UVa Cavaliers Kick Off Preseason Football Practice


Charlottesville - The Virginia Cavaliers kicked off preseason practice Monday afternoon in Charlottesville.

Their first workout leading up to the September 1st season opener at home against the Richmond Spiders.  Cavs coaches getting their first in-person look on the practice field at Alabama transfer Phillip Sims, the former Chesapeake standout out of Oscar Smith High School who broke Virginia state records in passing yards and touchdowns.

Bill Lazor  - "I have friends at the University of Alabama who coach there, so I've also had feedback from them.  As far as his mechanics and such, I think you've got to see him in person."

Virginia's first six practices this week through Saturday are open to the public at no charge.
