Dodge is pulling out of NASCAR at the end of this season. The manufacturer made it official Tuesday afternoon. The only Sprint team they're backing this season, Penske Racing, is rejoining Ford in 2013.
So Dodge is not taking part in a 2-day Goodyear tire test Tuesday and Wednesday at Martinsville Speedway.
The other big three manufacturers, as well as Goodyear, were out on the track Tuesday with the all-new 2013 cars.
Martin Truex Jr., Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards and Kevin Harvick were all out turning laps.
The tire test is a result of NASCAR deciding to lighten the fronts of the cars by 100 pounds.
Carl Edwards, 12th in Points with 0 Wins this Year, said "I really don't care how heavy the cars are as long as we are able to race them, and the fast cars are able to move through the field. I think that's the key and I think NASCAR is working really hard on that."
