Campbell Co., VA - The Campbell County Sheriff's Office held a press conference Wednesday morning to talk about those two separate murder investigations.
Police arrested Tony Witt, 26, Tuesday afternoon in Lynchburg. He's charged with the second degree murder of Barbara Martin, 53.
Officials say Witt lived with Martin on and off for the past six months. They would not say if the relationship was romantic.
Investigators say Martin was found in her home on Spring Lake Drive on Monday with a stab wound to her upper body. They say she was killed on July 30.
Witt's second degree murder charge could be upgraded with the grand jury.
Officials also released new details in the homicide of an elderly Campbell County man - James Payne.
Investigators say they arrested his son-in-law Vincent Spinner, 49, Tuesday as he was pulling out of Ardmore Drive in Lynchburg. He'd been living there with his brother and sister in law, after separating from Payne's daughter.
Payne, 89, was found dead at his home in Rustburg last Friday. Investigators say he died from multiple stab wounds. They say the motive was finances.
Right now, Spinner is charged with second degree murder, but investigators say the charge could be upgraded.
