New Paid Position at Amherst Co. Fire Department - WSET.com - ABC13

Amherst Co., VA - After struggling to get enough volunteers, Amherst County is adding the first paid position to its fire department.

The board of supervisors approved the request at Tuesday night's meeting.

The county will pay $42,000 a year in salary, benefits and equipment.

The full time employee will work Monday through Friday, relieving volunteers of some of the workload.
