Lynchburg, VA - A brand new program teaches teens how to run businesses, and it wants applicants.
The Young Entrepreneurs Academy, or Yea!, will teach kids about business plans, marketing and finance.
Lynchburg is the first city in Virginia to launch YEA. The pilot program runs three years. The first year is exclusively for members of the Boys and Girls Club, but year two and three will open to the public.
Applications are available now, interviews are coming up and the program starts in October.
"A lot of kids have been ingrained that they have to go out and find themselves a job and get themselves prepared either going through a trade or a community college and get themselves prepared for a job. This will enable them to start thinking about how to create a job," said Anthony Andrews, program manager.
The first program will take the 15 best candidates. Click here for more details.
