Flames Begin Week 2 of Preseason Camp

Lynchburg - The Liberty Flames Thursday began their second week of preseason camp, they've been in full pads now since Monday.

Head Coach Turner Gill says defense should be a real strength with lots of experience on that side of the ball.  Offensively, the battle for starting quarterback continues between Stafford's Brian Hudson and redshirt freshman Josh Woodrum out of Cave Spring.

Turner Gill, FIRST-YEAR FLAMES HEAD COACH, said "Ideally, we'd like to go a solid two weeks, give 'em a chance to see where they're at, who's made the most improvement, who's the guy who can help us win football games."
Dennis Carter - "Not knowing at this point who your starting quarterback is gonna be, is that good or bad?"

Pat Kelly, FLAMES SENIOR WIDE RECEIVER, said "I think it's good for competition, if nothing else it makes both guys better.  And you know say an injury occurs, it's just gonna make the other guy that much more prepared to play.  And so, you know, it's good to catch balls from both guys and good to see both guys lead the offense."

Brent Vinson, FLAMES SENIOR DEFENSIVE BACK, said "The sky's the limit for this defense.  This is probably the most talented defense that I've been on in the four years that I've been at Liberty."
