William Campbell Generals - Football Friday Preview

Naruna - Today's Football Friday Preview spotlights the William Campbell Generals.

Despite a 3-and-7 regular season record last year, the Generals made the playoffs and made the most of the opportunity.  They won twice, advancing to the state quarterfinals before being knocked out.
Greg Mullins is back for this third season as Generals' head coach. He says William Campbell always has good speed, but this season, the Generals have size up front to boot, averaging 240 on the offensive line.

Greg Mullins, WILLIAM CAMPBELL HEAD COACH, said "My first year we had a 155-pound guard and a 175-pound guard.  So, you know, that's different for us this year than it has been since I've been here."

Brent Guthrie, SENIOR LINEBACKER/TIGHT END, said "We're all playing together and everybody's as one.  It's not just one person doing all the work or anything like that.  We have to have everybody going at the same time."

Malik Slayton, SENIOR DEF. BACK/WIDE RECEIVER, said "We can be at the top of the Dogwood in my opinion.  And if we stay on the right path like we are now, keep getting better, listen to our coaches, we can make it real far this year."

The Generals open the season at home a week from this Friday, August 24th, against Rustburg.
