Lynchburg, VA - Paul Munro Elementary in Lynchburg first opened its doors in September 1962. Now, the plans for a special 50 year anniversary celebration are underway.
The event will include speakers and entertainment at Amazement Square. All the money raised will go toward renovations around the school.
The goal is to add on to the playground and do more landscaping. Organizers are also selling bricks for a walkway at the front of the school.
The project is something that's close to Paul Munro parent Missy Perry.
"We have a lot of great students and faculty. It's a welcoming place that we want our children to come to now but we want people to bring their children back to Lynchburg and think about Paul Munro as a place they'd like to send their children," said Perry.
The celebration is set for Sept. 29 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Tickets are $25. Get more information about the event here.
