Lynchburg, VA - School's starting up, and that means a lot of reading. But there's one book Liberty Counsel really wants your child to pick up.
It's called the Patriot's Handbook of Religious Freedom in Public Schools. Liberty Counsel mailed one to every public school in the country for the new school year. That's 99,750 copies.
The author says it teaches students their rights to pray, form Bible clubs, and express their religion in a public school. Dean of Liberty Counsel Mat Staver says the public school is not a faith-free zone.
"We want to educate about the rights of students, teachers, even parents have within the public schools - and there are many rights they have. And the more principals and administrators know about those rights, I think, the less controversy we'll ultimately encounter," said Staver.
Staver says he's gotten very good responses so far.
Liberty Counsel is a nonprofit that advances religious freedom.
