Bedford Co. Man Pleads No Contest in Shooting

Bedford Co., VA - A Bedford county man pleaded no contest to shooting and permanently injuring his brother and nephew Wednesday.

A judge found Dennis Caldwell guilty of two counts of aggravated malicious wounding and two counts of use of firearm in a felony.

Prosecutors say the long running family dispute between Dennis and his brother Glenn Caldwell sparked the shooting a year ago Wednesday.

After an argument over loud music, Dennis shot his brother multiple times, barricaded himself in his house and then set it on fire.

Dennis Caldwell will be sentenced October 19. In the meantime, his attorneys are seeking a mental evaluation to access his psychological state at the time of the shooting.
