Concord, VA - Gleaning for the World volunteers were hard at work Wednesday making sure kids in our area get back to school with what they need.
They spent much of the day making kits for children in our area. The kits contain about $140,000 worth of school supplies and should help between 1,500 and 2,000 children.
"It's something that people really need to purchase this time of year and helping schools, helping teachers. We hear about teachers that are buying their products out of pocket to help out some of these kids. We are just so thankful that Gleaning is able to help some of these folks out," said Michael Justice, director of Gleaning Church Network.
Teachers will receive the kits and hand them out to students who need them. If there are any leftovers, the teachers will keep those supplies.
