Bedford, VA - The Bedford Police Department has been chosen as the number one department of its size in the Commonwealth for its traffic programs.

The Law Enforcement Challenge gave the award to the department on Tuesday.

It recognizes the overall best traffic safety programs in the state.

They say education cuts down on crashes, injuries and deaths.

The Bedford Police Department has now placed first in three of the past four years.
