Lynchburg, VA - It is no secret that people are watching their money closely during these economic times. Spas throughout the area say they are seeing a drop in people visiting the spa, and many of their regular customers are coming less frequently as a result. We went to Acorn Hill Spa in Lynchburg where we are going to show you how to cut down on the cost of your next spa visit. They are here to show you how to give yourself a full spa experience for just dollars.
Chantey Ebanks knows her stuff when it comes to skin care. And she knows, just as good as anyone else, how expensive spa treatments can be for some. That is why she is here to help with things you can do at home to cut down on the expense of beautifying yourself.
"If you exfoliate at home and keep your skin soft and get that top layer of dead skin maybe off, then when you do come in, you can get a shorter service and have the same result," said Ebanks.
We are making a scrub that can be used on the entire body from head to toe. To make it you will need: raw sugar, an essential oil, body oil and a lemon. As for the body oil, any carrier oil will work (anything from grapeseed oil to jojoba oil.)
The base should be made of raw sugar or salt. If you have sensitive skin, use raw sugar. If you decide to use salt, make sure there is no iodine in it.
Mix all the products together, spread on the top half of a lemon, and apply to the body, especially the rougher areas like the elbows, knees, and soles of the feet. Rub in circular motions and watch the dead skin scrub right off.
You can buy all the products in this story at your local grocery or health food store. The essential oil is optional, but it can help uplift your mood and may have some health benefits associated with it. Just remember, only use a few drops.
