Lynchburg, VA- A lot of kids in our area headed off for their first day of school on Monday. ABC 13 News caught up with some little ones catching the bus.
Some parents say the first day of school is a memorable moment. We caught several parents snapping photos to capture the special day. A lot of kids said they were excited about the new school year and reuniting with their classmates.
"It's going to be fun, and I get to learn and see my new friends, "said Alley Miller, a Lynchburg City Schools student.
"It's been nice to have the summer off and not have to get up early in the morning. But, it's also good to be able to get back to a routine and have our children be learning," said Sheri Quinones, a parent of two boys in Lynchburg City Schools.
The start of the school year also means more buses will be on the roads Monday. Transportation officials are asking drivers to be extra cautious driving around the buses, and look out for kids.
