Lynchburg, VA - The American Red Cross is holding its third annual "Beef Council Blood Drive" in Lynchburg.
Around 30 people came out to Greenview Drive to donate, but the Red Cross really wants to reach the goal of 65 units of blood.
They say there is a critical need for all blood types, so to get you to come out, they offered incentives like voting for your local fire department so they can win too.
"We struggle in the summer because of no colleges, no high schools, peoples' lifestyles change so anytime we can do something a little different, offer gift certificates, grill some burgers, it's a different way to get people to donate," said Bill Johnson, account representative for The Red Cross.
There are more chances for you to donate. You can stop by Lynchburg's American Red Cross' Community Drawing Center at 1900 Tate Springs Rd. every Friday from noon until 6 p.m. and the first Tuesdays of every month from noon until 6 p.m.
