Danville, VA - Danville's Vice Mayor Gary Miller addressed city officials with the "State of the City" Wednesday morning.
He talked about the exciting changes over the past year and what is coming up for Danville. Some of the changes include the Dan River Research Building, the new YMCA, streetscape construction downtown and the new fire station.
Miller says Danville city officials looked at other downtowns as examples in the past, and now people are turning to Danville as a model.
He says this past year has had some of the biggest changes for the city.
"If you look at what we were 5 years ago, 10 years ago we have come a long way. We have won national awards. We've got other committees coming to us and asking how are you doing what you are doing. So we must be doing something right," he said.
Miller also addressed how Danville still has a ways to go with unemployment. But he says they are on the right track.
