Lynchburg - Winston-Salem broke loose for five runs in the 11th to snap a 2-all tie and beat Lynchburg 7-2 Wednesday night in Carolina League baseball action. Lynchburg, despite getting just one hit through the first 10 innings, took a 2-1 lead into the ninth, Michael Spina's 2-run homer in the second the Hillcats' only hit until adding a single in the 11th.
Down to its last out, Winston-Salem scored one run in the ninth to tie the game. Juan Silverio doubled in Michael Earley who had doubled to knot the game at 2. In the 11th, Michael Blanke and Michael Earley led off the frame with back-to-back homers for the Dash, who racked up five runs in the inning to blow the game open. Winston-Salem now leads the four-game series 2-1 with the finale Thursday night. The Hillcats remain two games behind first-place Wilmington and a game-and-a-half behind Frederick in the second half. Frederick beat Wilmington Wednesday night 6-3.
