Mineral, VA - A new book about the Mineral earthquake was just released.
It's a children's book called Earthquake Surprise. Author Linda Salisbury lives near Mineral. To write her book, she interviewed area kids about what the quake felt like.
It's both fiction and non-fiction with a little local history mixed in. Salisbury has written other kids' books, and after the quake, was asked to write another.
"After the earthquake, within a few weeks, the kids in the area all started to ask her whether she was going to write another book about Bailey - that's the main character in the book - about Bailey in the earthquake," said Jim Salisbury, her husband.
