V.E.S. Bishops Football Friday Preview

Lynchburg - Today's Football Friday Preview checks in at Virginia Episcopal School.

The V.E.S. Bishops are in the midst of three-a-day practices, they've only been together since Saturday.  This was their light workout Thursday afternoon before some tough defensive work tonight.  The Bishops, led by second-year head coach Butch Jennings, try and bounce back from a 1-and-9 season last year.  Junior Tom Creasy, who played at Woodberry Forest last year, steps in as new V.E.S. quarterback. One of his favorite targets figures to be sophomore Dante Jefferson out of Lynchburg.  The Bishops have just 21 players, so most will be playing both ways.  V.E.S. opens at North Cross a week from Saturday.

Brendan Short, SENIOR LINEBACKER/TIGHT END, said "This year is completely different, we're like a big family over here.  We have low numbers this year but actually we can use that to our advantage in gaining comfort with each other and becoming true brothers."

Michael Biesemier, JUNIOR OFF. TACKLE/DEF. END, said "It takes a lot of mental toughness and you have to understand that you're going to be going both ways so you have to be able to condition."

Albert "Butch" Jennings, SECOND-YEAR V.E.S. HEAD COACH, said "Our line I would say, we have a lot more linemen this year which is very exciting.  But I think you're going to see kids more composed this year, poised, and able to take on a different load."
