Blacksburg - The Hokies will have a closed scrimmage this Saturday before beginning game-week preparations for Georgia Tech a week from this coming Monday.
At Wednesday night's final open scrimmage, redshirt freshman Michael Holmes scored twice and ran for 41 yards on seven carries. Cody Journell booted three field goals and the defense recorded nine sacks. True freshman Trey Edmunds out of Dan River led all rushers with 57 yards on 12 carries, but did fumble twice. Quarterbacks Logan Thomas and Trey Gresh both threw a touchdown pass, Thomas hit 11 of 20 passes for 160 yards.
