Hillcats Beat Winston-Salem 8-2

Lynchburg - The Hillcats got solid pitching and great production from the bottom of the batting order to beat Winston-Salem 8-2 Thursday night and earn a split of the four-game series.

Lynchburg starter Dimasther Delgado pitched well, going seven innings, allowing five hits and two unearned runs to get the win and improve to 7-and-6.   After scoring three in the second and two in the third, the Hillcats added another in the fourth on Dan Brewer's fly out to right.

Lynchburg tacks on two more in the eighth on Emerson Landoni's double to left, Landoni and Michael Spina both drove in three runs.  The 7, 8, and 9 hitters drove in seven of the Hillcats' eight runs.

John Cornely, just called up from low-A Rome, then struck out five of the six batters he faced the final two innings to finish it off.  The Hillcats open a three-game home series with Wilmington Friday night.
