Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Nelson Co. Murder

Nelson Co., VA - A Nelson County man will spend 25 years in prison for killing a woman last year.

Tuesday, a judge sentenced Frances Quiros, 39, to 40 years in prison but suspended 15 years. Quiros pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in June.

Last December, Quiros killed Amy Holden, 41, at her home. Prosecutors say he went over there to borrow a book and later called 911, saying he'd killed someone.

Quiros was living with his brother and his wife, who is Holden's sister.

Nelson Co., VA - A man who killed a Nelson County woman last year will appear in court Tuesday afternoon to learn his punishment.

Frances Quiros, 39, pleaded guilty to killing Amy Holden, 41, last December.

Deputies say Quiros called 911 to send an ambulance because he thought he killed someone. They found him standing outside her home on Ball Mountain Lane with a bloody towel and blood on his clothes.

Quiros was living with his brother and his wife, who is Holden's sister.

He faces up to 40 years in prison.
