Lynchburg, VA - Every two years, the YWCA of Central Virginia chooses a group of women to recognize their achievements through community service and leadership
There are nominees from 10 groups, like arts or business. Former Mayor Joan Foster is the government and law nominee. The communications nominee is ABC 13's Good Morning Virginia anchor Pattie Martin.
The youngest nominee is Megan Harvey, who recently graduated from E.C. Glass where she was an active member in lots of activities. She also volunteered at Virginia Baptist.
"Once I got into leadership, I just wanted to get involved at Glass. Some people find their cliques are sports or they love clubs and stuff like that. But leadership was mine," she said.
These women will be honored at a dinner on October 12 at the Kirkley Hotel. This is a big fundraiser for the YWCA.
