Moneta, VA- On Thursday, owners of Sunken City Brewing Company broke ground on the $2.3 million facility.
It's named after villages that flooded when Smith Mountain Lake was dammed. The new microbrewery will be located off Route 122 in Westlake Towne Center.
The facility will have a production brewery, tasting room and outdoor beer garden. They hope to have the tasting room open this spring. Officials say the new facility will create 20 to 25 jobs over the five years.
The owner of Sunken City Jerome Parnell III also owns and distributes "Dam Lager" a signature beer that is served a several local restaurants.
