Lynchburg, VA - An Indy car driver is in Lynchburg Tuesday in support of nuclear energy.
Simona de Silvestro was on hand to answer questions at Areva on Old Forest Road. Her car was also on display.
Area students came by to learn about aerodynamics and new technology.
Areva is a sponsor of number 78. The driver says she hopes to spread the word of nuclear energy as a safe, clean form of electricity production
She also talked about her love of racing.
"The neatest thing about an Indy car is just the speed, and you know being an open wheel car it is the fastest racing you can get to. As a driver of such a car it is something real exciting to be able to get to every Sunday," said Simona de Silvestro, who was Indy 500 Rookie of the Year.
De Silvestro has been racing since she was 6 years old, starting in go karts. Now she is in her third year of the Indy Series.
