Flames Move Ahead for Norfolk St. Game

Lynchburg - After coming so close to winning at Wake Forest Saturday night, the Flames play their home opener Saturday at 7 against Norfolk State.

Assistant Head Coach Carl Torbush filled in for Head Coach Turner Gill at Tuesday's weekly news conference, Gill home in Texas after the death of his mother.   Torbush and the rest of the coaches saw lots of positives out of the effort at Wake, very few mistakes for a first game with lots of new players.  Still, the Flames felt they let a big upset slip away.

Carl Torbush, LIBERTY U. ASSISTANT HEAD COACH, said "They were disappointed, we were disappointed and that's how you're supposed to be after a loss.  So I think they handled it very well.  They also understand that we put that game behind Sunday and it's time to get ready for Norfolk."

Brian Hudson, FLAMES JUNIOR QUARTERBACK, said "My teammates have my back and they support me even after I obviously made a mistake and threw that interception and we lost.  But after the game I got a lot of support from my teammates and it made me feel good knowing that they have a real good confidence in me."
