Danville, VA - The Danville Community Market is filling up for the 30th Annual Shrimp Festival.
The first day they sold out all of their 1,700 tickets.
The festival has 2,000 pounds of shrimp, which is about 36,000 shrimp!
The event is hosted by the Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce as well as Harvest Jubilee.
They sold out the event, and all of the money will go toward funding some of their events throughout the year.
J.B. and The Get Down Browns bands will be performing.
If you are not a big shrimp fan, they will have plenty of sides and drinks -- so there is something for everyone. Everything is included with the ticket.
Judging by previous years, they say most everyone gets at least one plate of food, and that's often over a pound of shrimp per person.
"Nobody leaves here hungry! It's all you can eat on premises, it's no carry out. But we have a lot of people who come back for seconds and thirds," said Laurie Moran, president the chamber.
When they do have shrimp left over, they auction off the rest. The event lasts until 8:30 p.m.
