Amherst, VA - The Mayor of Amherst says he's on the mend after undergoing six bypasses last month.
"Jack" Bailey says a few days before EMS crews rushed him to Lynchburg General, he felt pain in his neck and shoulder.
After surgery, the 65-year-old returned home a few days later.
Bailey says his family has a long history of heart attacks. His father had his first one at age 40.
The mayor is urging anyone with symptoms not to take a chance and seek help immediately.
He'll spend the next several months in rehabilitation.
