Former Wrestler Stops by Lynchburg Nursing Home

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA- A former professional wrestler was at Avante in Lynchburg Saturday. Ivan Koloff stopped by the nursing home to sign autographs.

Koloff, known as "The Russian Bear," spoke to residents and gave them signed pictures from his days as a world champion. Koloff won the WWWF heavyweight championship title back in 1971.

He says having his mother lives in a nursing home made him want to visit places like Avante.

"I knew visiting some of the nursing homes since then, a lot of people might get a kick out of that, having someone come out that you used to watch on TV and everything," said Koloff.

Koloff just turned 70 last month. He says he wants to keep doing events like Saturday's for as long as he can.
