Lynchburg, VA - Now might be a good time to sign your kids up for a new sport. Lynchburg Youth Hockey is offering an incentive: free hockey lessons.
It's part of a program called "learn to play," and the very first lesson is free. This year's session kicked off this morning with coaches teaching kids the basics.
Coaches say many of the new players go on to play for the youth hockey team. This year, they hope to expand the "learn to play" program.
"They ought to have something that they're passionate about and hockey is something they can become passionate about and it allows us as coaches and parents to mentor them," said coach Jeff Prowse.
You can bring your kids out to the next learn to play session. It starts next Saturday morning at 8 a.m. at the LaHaye Ice Center. For more information go here: http://www.lynchburgyouthhockey.com/
