Update: Police Say Man in Question Was Not Suspicious


Update 4:50 p.m.:

Roanoke, VA - Roanoke Police say a man who approached a teen at the bus stop Wednesday morning was not suspicious.

Police say they found the man and determined that he was in fact having trouble starting his truck and needed help.

Police do say that what the teen did was appropriate given the situation.


Roanoke, VA – Officials are looking for a man in Roanoke they say acted in a suspicious way toward a teen Tuesday afternoon.

The Roanoke Police Department says a man approached a 13-year-old girl at the intersection of Tillet Road and Guilford Avenue. The man asked the girl is she could do him a favor and help him start his truck. Officials say the girl then ran home and her mother called 911.

Officials say the man is in his late 40s or early 50s. He is 5'6" and about 250 lbs. He was wearing a baggy white T-shirt, light blue jeans and glasses. He was driving a pick-up truck with a lattice style rack or decal in the back window.

If you have any information, officials ask that you call the Roanoke Police Department at 853-5959 or the Crime Line at 344-8500. The Crime Line may offer a monetary reward for any information leading to an arrest.
