Lynchburg, VA –There was a celebration at Lynchburg's fire station three Wednesday morning over the money raised during the Fill the Boot campaign.
Firefighters across Lynchburg raised $32,770, which is double what was made last year.
The ceremony was held at number three because they raised the most.
The money goes to help families affected by muscular dystrophy.
MDA officials say it's amazing all that money came in $1 or $2 increments.
"To think that they could do that and come up with a total of $32,770 that's is just incredible," said Diane Boardman, executive director MDA Southwest and Central Virginia.
The money raised stays in the local community
