Texas Tavern Makes Good on Donation

Roanoke, VA - The Texas Tavern made good on their pledge to raise money for a local charity by handing over a check for more than $2,000.

Service dog Bella accepted the check at a ceremony Wednesday morning.

The Roanoke eatery auctioned off on Ebay five signs and menus that were replaced when prices had to be changed.

Owner Matt Bullington hatched the idea as a way for Texas Tavern fans to get some bragging rights and help a charity.

Mike Williams is one of the winners.

"It was kind of a win/win situation. Growing up in Roanoke I have a lot of memories that normally ended late night here at the Texas Tavern and then when you can get a piece of that combined with giving to a great organization as well... it's great," said Williams.

One of the signs ended up with a Roanoke native who now lives in Kuwait.

All the money was donated to St. Francis Service Dogs.
