Richmond, VA - The Virginia Board of Health approved new regulations on abortion clinics Friday.
The board voted 13 to 2 to enact the regulations, including a controversial provision that requires existing abortion clinics to meet the same architectural standards as new hospitals.
In June, the board voted to exempt existing clinics from the standards, but Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli said the board overstepped its authority and refused to certify it.
The vote in Richmond Friday brought out protestors. People came out with signs opposing the measure.
