Danville, VA -George Washington High School students in Danville got a lesson in banking at the grand opening of their URW Credit Union inside the school.
The business department at GW started the program. Two high school students will run the credit union. Students as well as teachers can use the services. The students will get school credit and will get paid from URW.
School leaders say it will give students the opportunity to learn about banking and finance.
"It's hands on. I get to learn from my mistakes. I'm not just learning it out of a book, it's in real life," said Devin Fuller, a junior.
School leaders hope this will lead to a job opportunity for the students after they graduate.
