Danville, VA - One group is not happy about the results of a VCU study on local attitudes toward uranium mining.
Virginia Uranium felt that the survey falsely depicted local sentiments towards the issue.
According to the poll, 53 % of people in Danville and Pittsylvania county were against lifting the ban on uranium mining Only 29 % were for lifting the ban .
"They asked the question about the moratorium again towards the end of the survey and at that point the numbers are much more evenly divided where you have 40% of the people saying 'Yes, we do support lifting the ban,'" said Patrick Wales , project manager for Virginia Uranium.
A spokesperson from the Alliance for Progress in Southern Virginia who ordered the survey says they stand by their results They invite anyone to view the survey on their website.
