Halifax County, VA-- One group in Halifax County continued to take their stand against uranium mining in Virginia.
The Virginia Coalition, which is a group of business leaders and professionals, held an anti-uranium fundraiser Saturday.
About 500 people came out to the event. There was food, music, and a live auction.
The fundraiser was held at the home of Delegate James Edmunds. He says he hopes when people leave the fundraiser, they will still continue to stand up for the cause.
"I think everybody here tonight will go away hopefully inspired to do something themselves, call their legislator, put up a sign, make a statement and understand that this involves them," Edmunds said.
The event raised over $100,000. All the proceeds will go to toward hiring and maintaining lobbyists to help keep the ban against uranium mining.
