Danville, VA - The Danville-Pittsylvania County Fair started last Friday and Monday, they have something to brag about.
This is the 22nd year of the fair, and those first two nights broke their two day record by about a 1,000 people. They say they broke both the record in attendance and also in total revenue.
Saturday, they almost hit the highest total for a single night but were just slightly off.
Sunday, they did not do as well because of the rain, but they still were up from previous years with bad weather.
Fair officials say they think they did so well because the fair not only gets bigger and better every year, but it is also more well-known.
They say people travel from all over, and the nice weather is a big factor.
They plan to put the money back into the fair for next year.
"It says a lot about how much they enjoy it because everybody knows that this area around here is economically strapped and jobs are tough, but some things people are going to spend their money on and that is enjoying themselves," said Larry Burnett, owner and operator of fair.
They do not expect to break the total week record because of the weather forecast for this week. But the fair goes through this Saturday, and they expect it to still be busy.
