The Hokies are anxious to bounce back from an ugly performance at Pittsburgh when they host Bowling Green this Saturday.
The Hokies' focus this week is correcting all the things that went wrong against the Panthers.
"We didn't play with passion." "We didn't play with energy." Those were the quotes Hokie players made at the weekly news conference. Logan Thomas says the team flat out underestimated Pittsburgh. "It's one of the worst losses I've been a part of just because we didn't do a lot of things right. I can handle a loss if we play really well and the team is just better but we knew they weren't better than us. We just kind of gave them the game," Thomas said.
ACC Specialist of the Week Kyshoen Jarrett added, "This is college football, especially at Virginia Tech, everybody is going to give their best and we just have to play with a lot more passion out there, and like I said, communicate better and I think we'll be just fine."
Now a 1-2 Bowling Green team comes to town with a win over Idaho and road losses to Florida and Toledo. "They got an experience quarterback, completing 60 percent of his passes. They had Florida in the 3rd quarter, tied up. They're for real," coach Frank Beamer said.
OTHER NOTES
Thomas says he took two of the hardest hits he's ever had against Pittsburgh but is okay now.
Kyle Fuller - who was out with an injured shoulder, practiced Monday.
Tech will wear camouflage helmets Saturday.
