Campbell Co., VA - Areva says it is now home to the most comprehensive and innovative nuclear testing capabilities in North America.
Thursday, the company cut the ribbon for its new U.S. Technical Center on Mt. Athos Road in Campbell County.
The center is a major part of what's called the Areva Solutions Complex. It's a facility for developing and testing products for the various utilities and manufacturers they service.
"We view this as a very key component to Lynchburg. It fits very well with our other facilities here and will help us to continue our growth inLynchburg," said Mike Rencheck, chief executive officer at AREVA Inc.
One of the many pieces of testing equipment they have, is a "shake table" capable of testing items that weigh up to 10 tons.
They also have environmental chambers that can test their components in harsh conditions.
