Officials Arrest 74-Year-Old Man for Trying to Rob Bank

Martinsville, VA – Officials arrested an elderly man after police say he tried to rob a bank in Martinsville Monday afternoon.

Police say John Andrew Bowles, 74, walked into the BB&T on Ellsworth Street around 1:30 p.m. and handed the teller a note.

He was later caught a few blocks away.

Bowles has been charged with one count of robbery.

There's no word if he got any money in the robbery.
