Crews Respond to Overnight Houseboat Fire in Amherst Co.

Amherst Co., VA - Several boats caught fire overnight on the Amherst County side of the James River.

The Monelison Volunteer Fire Department put out the flames around 3 a.m. Tuesday at a private recreation area near the Red and Dots Pier.

Public safety officials say the fire may have started on a houseboat and spread to three others in the area.

No one was injured in the blaze.

Fire officials are still trying to determine the cause.
