Lynchburg, VA- Thousands of runners and walkers are expected to descend on downtown Lynchburg for the Virginia Ten Miler races this weekend.
The opening ceremonies for the race kicked off on Friday at Amazement Square. Liberty University hosted a free family festival, and hundreds of kids participated in ‘The Amazing Mile.'
The Virginia Ten Miler and Four Miler kick off Saturday at 8 a.m. at E. C. Glass High School. Participants are asked to arrive, and be sure to bring their race bib. Race officials also recommend packing everything you need for race day the night before, and don't go overboard with those carbs.
"This is not the night to set the record for pasta eating ok. Carbo-loading for an event like this although fun and a great opportunity to socialize. We don't want you eating or overeating. A lot of runners and walkers will do that and it makes for a difficult Saturday morning," said Jeff Fedorko, Race Director, of the Virginia Ten Miler.
There is still time to register for the big races. From 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. you can register for the races at the race starting line.
Race officials recommend parking at ‘The Plaza' and walking over to E. C. Glass High School.
