This past weekend I got to spend time with one of my favorite people in the world- My Dad!
Living far from home is tough when I only get to see my family a few times a year (they live in Massachusetts, about an 11 hour drive) so I am thankful for every opportunity I get to spend with them. Last weekend my Dad and I met up at Penn State (my Alma mater) which is between a 5-6 hour drive for both of us.
He enjoys going to the Penn State football games so every Fall since I have graduated we have tried to meet up to make a game. We met up in State College last week and spent Thursday and Friday walking around campus and downtown, visiting back all my old favorite food spots, and catching up with a few friends who are still in the area, as well as former co-workers and professors.
Then on Saturday it was GAME TIME! It was great to see all the fans come out to support the current football team who is making the best of their very challenging season by suffering the consequences of other people's actions! As tradition, about two hours before the start of the game, the buses carrying the players drove up to the stadium and they were greeted with lots of cheering fans, including my Dad and I.
Then it was time to head inside. Luckily, our seats were covered (not many in Beaver Stadium are) which was a HUGE relief since there was a fairly steady drizzle that lasted most of the game. But by the end the sun had come out so overall the weather was not too bad. And, we beat Temple 24-13.
On Sunday it was sad to leave but I am so thankful for the time I got to spend with my Dad this weekend. The older I get the more I appreciate my parents and never take time with them for granted!
