Forest Woman Sentenced for Mortgage Fraud Scheme

Lynchburg, VA - A Forest woman will spend one day in prison and three months on home confinement for being a part of a mortgage fraud scheme.

44-year-old Mary Novak Thompson was sentenced in federal court Tuesday morning. Prosecutors say she used her position at Wachovia Bank to facilitate the scheme. She pleaded guilty to making a false statement for the purpose of influencing the action of National City Mortgage.
