Danville, VA-- This Sunday, people in Danville will have the chance to support the fight against poverty and hunger. It's called the Danville Area CROP Hunger Walk.
This is the fifth year the walk has been held in Danville. 25 percent of the money raised will go to God's Storehouse. The rest of the proceeds go to Church World Service, a non-profit that helps fight poverty in 50 countries.
"Many women and children throughout the world have to walk many miles to gather water and gather food, so even if it's raining we're walking in solidarity with them and we hope everyone will join us," event coordinator Beth Bowman said.
The event raised $15,000 last year, and Bowman hopes to raise even more since their sponsors have tripled.
The walk will start and end at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
