Lynchburg - In a battle of two of the top volleyball teams in Central Virginia, the L.C.A. Bulldogs knocked off E.C. Glass 3-0 Thursday night at Glass. The victory was payback for the Bulldogs, who earlier in the season, lost at home to Glass 3-0.
After L.C.A. won a tight first game 25-22, it looked like the Hilltoppers would win game two and even the match. But the Bulldogs, down 24-17, just one point from dropping the game, ran off nine straight points to win the game 26-24 and take a commanding 2-0 lead in games.
The Bulldogs then finished Glass off 25-20 in game three to complete the sweep. Morgan Horne led L.C.A. with 15 kills and 6 digs. Jen Garrett added 11 kills and 4 blocks, Amanda Barrick had 7 kills and 5 blocks, Rachel Morris added 35 assists, Lauren Bunnell 8 aces and 3 kills. Sarah Thomas and Katharine George each had 9 kills for the Hilltoppers, Paige Riley had 18 assists.
L.C.A. improves to 19-and-6 overall, E.C. Glass drops to 15-and-3 overall.
