Danville Gets Grant to Help Save Older Buildings

Danville, VA - The city of Danville has gotten a grant they say will help them save historic buildings.

The Virginia Department of Historic Resources has given the city more than $12,000 to survey and archive historic locations and buildings in the area. This is great news since many of those buildings are in danger of being torn down.

"It tells us as a community what currently is there and if, for whatever reason, the property is lost, we can go back and see what was there," said Earl B. Reynolds Jr., director of Community Development.

The first phase of the project will be completed in November.

The following phases, which will focus on the Grove Street and Paxton Street, will be completed next year.
