Mecklenburg Co., VA – Officials say a Clarksville soldier supporting Operation Enduring Freedom died in Afghanistan over the weekend.
Sgt. Robert J. Billings, 30, died Saturday from wounds he suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device in Spin Boldak, Afghanistan.
The Department of Defense says Billings was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.
