Police: Beware of Scam in Roanoke

Roanoke, VA - Roanoke Police are warning people of a potential scam after an elderly woman was robbed in her home.

They say a man came to the door of the 80-year-old's home on Mud Lick Road Tuesday afternoon. He said he worked for a tree removal company and said she owed him $850.

When she said she didn't hire a tree removal company and wouldn't pay, she says he grabbed a purse off her table and ran out.

The suspect is a white man between 20 and 25 years old with short brown hair. He's 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 170 pounds.
